Australasian Railway Association Visit Reference Point

Tuesday, 3rd October, 2022

We were delighted to welcome our client, the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), to the Reference Point office in Gerrards Cross last week. The ARA is the peak body for the rail sector in Australia and New Zealand, covering passenger and freight operations, track owners, contractors and more.

They use Reference Point’s SkillGuard solution for their Rail Industry Worker Program (RIW), which offers a national competency and safety management system for workers in the Australian rail industry. It provides a single electronic record of their occupational health, qualifications, competencies - and much more - as they work across projects, move between employers and operate on different state rail networks, maximising safety and efficiency across the sector.

Visitors from the ARA, together with some of the Reference Point team
involved in delivery of the RIW Program. Joined by members of the Winnie Rail team.

During the visit, Reference Point and the ARA discussed the ongoing success of the RIW program, as well as other key activities, including a major update to the system, delivering powerful new features and over 90 system enhancements scheduled for 12th October.

On a less serious topic, the findings of a recent pilot undertaken by Winnie Rail were discussed, testing the suitability of dachshunds for rail maintenance contracts; however, it was agreed this only led to a stretched workforce and hot dogs.
